Junior G.E.E.K Training Institute

Just Teach, through the Junior Geek Training Institute (JGTI), is on a mission to break barriers and provide educational equity and economic stability for marginalized students, including those experiencing homelessness. JGTI is an innovative, paid year-long program designed to empower 90 students, with a specific focus on enhancing educational outcomes for low-income individuals.

Our Junior Geeks Training Institute participants engage in a transformative journey, working closely with professional teachers to refine their instructional skills, mentoring capabilities, and knowledge of performing arts. This collaborative effort results in the formation of a community of support, where students not only enhance their instructional practices but also actively contribute to co-teaching, role modeling positive behaviors, and building meaningful connections to serve as instructors for younger Geeks (K-middle school) in the STEAM and performing arts program.

The Junior Geeks embrace a holistic approach to education, teaching, and community engagement through four comprehensive program modules:

STEAM Education: Geared towards hands-on classroom instruction, this module equips Junior Geeks with the best practices for teaching STEAM subjects and encourages real-world applications of their learning.

Mentorship Training: Junior Geeks learn the art of encouragement and support, honing skills in collaborative work, active listening, empathy, and patience. This module emphasizes the importance of giving back and fostering a sense of community.

Performing Arts Instruction: This module expands students' horizons in various modes of arts, encouraging them to explore emotions, expand their imaginations, develop their voices, and inspire their peers to be confident while finding joy in self-expression.

Workforce Development: Junior Geeks are equipped with essential life skills, including effective communication, active listening, collaboration, adaptability, interview skills, and resume building. This module ensures that they not only achieve their educational goals but also are well-prepared for vocational success.

Junior Geeks are not just students; they are catalysts for positive change within their communities. Through this specialized training program, they teach, share their knowledge, and give back, contributing to the betterment of society and paving the way for future generations. Just Teach is committed to creating an inclusive and empowering space where every individual, regardless of their circumstances, can thrive and contribute meaningfully to the world.
